Equine Assisted Therapy

PRANCE is proud to have an amazing team of skilled professionals, both mental health therapists and equine specialists who have all been certified in the Eagala model of Equine Therapy. Our mental health therapists: Rebecca Brown, Jessica Pietryszyn and Amy MacFarlane are certified and insured to work with a variety of insurance companies which supports these therapy sessions to be covered for many people. Additional funding sources include Health Canada’s NIHB program for First Nations People, Jordan’s Principal funding, Victims’ Services and Blue Cross for Veterans and First Responders.

Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT) is a model of psychotherapy which is focussed on the inclusion and interaction with horses and is now recognized and supported by most major insurance companies in Ontario. Equine therapy provides a unique alternative to traditional counselling or psychotherapy, as it incorporates horses experientially for healing, personal growth, development and learning. It is a collaborative team approach involving a mental health professional, equine specialist and horses to enable participants to achieve their goals.

All interactions are carefully supervised and are designed in accordance with each client’s therapeutic needs and objectives. We now have an experienced and Eagala Certified team of clinicians, each skilled in a variety of mental health issues and life challenges including: trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, history of abuse, grief, loss and life transitions. We work with children (8 and up) teens and adults.
