Non-Riding Programs

Equine Assisted Therapy is a model of psychotherapy which is focussed on the inclusion and interaction with horses and is now recognized and supported by most major insurance companies. Equine Therapy provides a unique alternative to traditional counselling or psychotherapy, as it incorporates horses experientially for healing, personal growth, development and learning. It is a collaborative team approach involving a mental health professional, equine specialist and horses to enable participants to achieve their goals.

All interactions are carefully supervised and are designed in accordance with each client’s therapeutic needs and objectives. We now have an experienced and Eagala Certified team of clinicians, each skilled in a variety of mental health issues and life challenges including: trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, history of abuse, grief, loss and life transitions. We work with children (8 and up) teens and adults.

Prance Non-Riding Program also offers team-building workshops, womens’ empowerment groups, teen groups focusing on specific issues such as bullying,  body-image, suicide-prevention, self-esteem, and “Horse Powered Reading” a literacy program for youth.
